'AKP-linked contractor' who won 1.9 billion TL in tenders declared no profit: Did not pay even 1 TL in taxes
Haldız İnşaat, owned by Macit Haldız—who is associated with Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın—did not pay taxes following six public tenders worth 1 billion 977 million TL it received between 2021 and 2023. According to data from the Revenue Administration, Haldız, whose son is a member of the AKP Kocaeli Provincial Board of Directors, declared no income during these three years.
It has been learned that Haldız İnşaat Otomotiv ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi, owned by Macit Haldız—referred to as “the name enriched by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın”—did not declare income and therefore paid no taxes during the 2021-2023 period.
According to a report by Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün, the total value of the six public tenders received between 2021 and 2023 by the Haldız İnşaat company, owned by Macit Haldız—whose son is a member of the AKP Kocaeli Provincial Board of Directors and who is described as an “AKP-linked contractor”—amounted to 1 billion 977 million 546 thousand TL.
The distribution of some of the public tenders received by the company in 2021, 2022, and 2023 by administration is as follows:
• TOKİ: Construction of 564 Residences and 16 Shops, including Infrastructure and Landscaping in İlimtepe Neighborhood, Körfez District, Kocaeli Province - 1.3 billion TL (October 2023)
. Kent Konut, a subsidiary of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality: Construction of Sağlıkkent Residences - 207.5 million TL (March 2022)
• TOKİ: Construction of 1,010 Residences, 24 Shops, and one Mosque, including Infrastructure and Landscaping in the İlimtepe area of Yarımca Neighborhood, Körfez District, Kocaeli Province: 259 million TL (August 2021)
The tax record of the company, which received 1.9 billion TL in public tenders between 2021 and 2023, is also noteworthy. According to data from the Revenue Administration, Haldız İnşaat declared that it made no profit in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Accordingly, the company, known for its massive public tenders, did not pay a single kuruş in taxes during the 2021-2023 period.
