AKP Manisa MP Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu: 'We do not take orders from the Palace'

The rejection of motions submitted by the opposition in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) by the votes of AKP MPs has sparked debate.

DEM Party Mersin MP Ali Bozan took the floor regarding the Felicity Party's "motion to investigate the negative effects of rejecting opposition motions on legislative activities."

'YOU HAVE NO WILL OF YOUR OWN!'

Recalling the words of former AKP Sakarya MP Kenan Sofuoğlu, who expressed regret after becoming an MP, Bozan said, "Looking at the current performance of AKP MPs, they must have regretted it within a year, as they do not participate in the General Assembly's work. They do not even feel the need to listen to the motions submitted by the opposition in the General Assembly. On one hand, you are trying to serve as MPs, and on the other, you have no will of your own."

Stating that many issues for the benefit of 85 million citizens have been brought to the agenda in Parliament for a year, Bozan said, "You voted to reject all of these, sometimes by listening with three people, sometimes five, sometimes 10. Because of your constant rejection votes, I think the name of the AKP group should be 'the Rejectionists' from today on."

RESPONSE FROM YENİŞEHİRLİOĞLU

In response to DEM Party member Bozan's remarks, "I am sure there are many MPs among you who truly want to serve as MPs, they want to do it, but the Palace does not allow it. The reason is one-man rule. Just once, just one time, say 'yes' to a motion submitted by the opposition," AKP Group Deputy Chairman Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu replied, "Those who surrender their will to terrorist organizations cannot criticize the AK Party Group here over the issue of will. We are not MPs who take orders from the Palace and have limited free will. We reject it!"

Yenişehirlioğlu had previously become a topic of public discussion following the 'lobster crisis' in the AKP due to the 562 thousand lira Rolex brand watch on his wrist.
