Victory Day on August 30 is being celebrated in every corner of the country. While various events are being held as part of the celebrations, Metropolitan Municipalities are also making public transportation vehicles free of charge specifically for August 30.

However, this issue was a subject of debate in Bursa in 2019. The former Mayor of Bursa, AKP member Alinur Aktaş, had stated that they would not make public transportation free on August 30.

In the municipal council, Aktaş told members who requested that public transportation be free on Victory Day, August 30, that "August 30 is not a holiday that concerns the general public."

Aktaş served as the Mayor of İnegöl between 2004 and 2017, and as the Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality between 2017 and 2024.
