Jet release for AKP member Ensarioğlu's son-in-law: Arrested for theft, released in under 24 hours
It has been learned that Mutlu Akbulut, the son-in-law of AKP member Galip Ensarioğlu, who was arrested as part of a cryptocurrency and internet fraud operation, was released on the same day he was taken into custody. It is alleged that the release decision for Akbulut was made as a result of political pressure.
In an operation conducted by the Istanbul Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch against gang members identified as being involved in a 30 million TL cryptocurrency fraud and theft by compromising information systems, Mutlu Akbulut, the son-in-law of AKP Diyarbakır MP Galip Ensarioğlu, was also detained.
ARRESTED FIRST, RELEASED IN UNDER 24 HOURS
The suspects questioned as part of the operation were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse. Mutlu Akbulut, the son-in-law of AKP member Ensarioğlu, who was referred to the duty magistrate judge with a request for arrest, was jailed on charges of "theft by using information systems, money laundering, and acquiring assets with proceeds of crime."
However, Akbulut's detention did not even last 24 hours.
According to a report by Sözcü, it emerged that Mutlu Akbulut, who had been sent to Silivri Closed Penal Institution, was released at jet speed in less than 24 hours after an appeal was filed with the duty criminal court of first instance on the same day.
Galip Ensarioğlu's daughter Dilan and Mutlu Akbulut were married in July 2021. It was also noted that Galip Ensarioğlu's in-law, Mahsun Akbulut, has been operating a currency exchange office in Diyarbakır for a long time.
THE ALLEGED CRIME FALLS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE HIGH CRIMINAL COURT
The fact that the crime committed by son-in-law Akbulut is among the catalog crimes falling under the jurisdiction of the High Criminal Court, and that the arrest warrant was revoked on the same day despite the fact that measures such as judicial control, house arrest, and a travel ban would be insufficient given the lower and upper limits of the prison sentence for the crime and the fact that evidence had not yet been collected, has raised questions.
ALLEGATIONS OF POLITICAL PRESSURE FOR RELEASE
While it is claimed that the release decision came as a result of political pressure, it was learned that a report from MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board) was also ordered regarding the money laundering aspect of the investigation, but that there were attempts to intervene in the file and close it with a decision of non-prosecution.
