AKP member Özil attends iftar: 'I brought greetings from President Erdoğan'

Özil and Kılıç met with Turks living in the country at an iftar program organized by the Union of International Democrats (UID) in the city of Dortmund.

Stating that the first generation who arrived in Germany in the 1960s has achieved many successes in the country today, Kılıç said, "If we had said that Mesut Özil would be among us as a world champion in football, having played for and sweated in the world's biggest clubs, they probably wouldn't have believed it. But it happened. Be proud of yourselves."

"I AM VERY HAPPY TO BE HERE"

Mesut Özil also stated that he brought greetings from AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Özil said, "I am very happy to be here. Perhaps there are those among you who do not know me. Like you, I was born and raised in Germany as a member of the diaspora. I retired from football two years ago. There are many young people here tonight. I want to give a message to the youth here: Pursue your goals. Believe in yourself, be patient, be grateful, and take the right steps. As long as you do these things, God will clear your path."

Expressing that he is "very proud as a son of a Turk," Özil added, "As you become stronger, we as a country also become much stronger."
