AKP's Tayyar says 'affluent societies also experience this,' points to the culprit: Interesting observations on school attacks

Following the school attacks in which teachers and students lost their lives, millions have been calling for the resignation of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, while interesting observations regarding the attacks came from AKP's Tayyar.

Stating that such attacks also occur abroad and labeling this as a disease of the era, Şamil Tayyar explained why, unlike many citizens, the AKP cannot be held responsible for what happened in any way with the following words:

"A school raid by a student in Kahramanmaraş has plunged the entire country into mourning.

First and foremost, I wish God's mercy upon the teachers and students who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured.

This tragic incident is not a situation to be made a subject of political polemics.

It is a problem that we also encounter in affluent societies such as the USA, France, England, and Norway.

It is a pain produced by the digital world and modernity.

It is a disease of the era.

Experts will make the diagnosis and write the prescription, but a total struggle is mandatory.

I do not underestimate the role of the political institution; it is the very entity that will set these mechanisms in motion.

A complex web of problems that accelerates social decay, hollows out the concept of family, fuels spiritual dissatisfaction, weakens the sense of empathy, and creates a loveless and addicted generation—ranging from digital games to drug use, from daytime TV nonsense to betting and suicide cases—must be addressed in a multifaceted way.

I hope we do not polarize on this issue, that we contribute to the solution, and that we take the responsibility that falls to us."
