AKP's Varank enters 'GPA' debate on social media: I am offering you the chance to end my political career

AKP's Mustafa Varank stated that he would quit politics if he could not refute the allegations during a diploma debate on social media with a user named Kendine Muhabir. Responding to Varank, Kendine Muhabir said, "If your interview offer is still valid, I accept it gladly. While we are together, we can also talk about other topics on the agenda and do some good work in the name of journalism."

Drawing attention to a detail in a diploma image that the AKP's Varank added to a post targeting the imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, the user quoted the post and asked, "Mr. Varank, how did you manage to get into METU with a GPA of 61.166? If you explain, we will listen."

Angered by this question, Varank made a new post, claiming that if the user could not prove their allegation, he would resign from his parliamentary seat and hand his resignation letter to the user.

"I AM OFFERING YOU THE CHANCE TO END MY POLITICAL CAREER"

AKP's Varank used the following expressions in that post:

"I am addressing this absolute ignoramus called 'Kendine Muhabir' who does not know the difference between the Secondary Education Success Score (OBP) and a GPA: I am offering you the chance to end my political career. Bring your camera and your microphone; I will show you my GPA on my diploma. If my diploma grade is not 61, you will close all your social media accounts there, never to be opened again. If it is 61, I will give you my resignation letter from parliament, and you will submit it to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Are you in?"

KENDİNE MUHABİR: DO I CALL YOU AN 'ABSOLUTE IGNORAMUS'?

In his response to Varank, Kendine Muhabir invited Varank to answer his questions on a live broadcast. Stating that he also had questions for him regarding the fake diploma scandal, Kendine Muhabir said in his post:

"Could you show me where in my writing I mentioned a 'diploma grade'? OBP, that is, the Secondary Education Success Score, is the average of all the grades you received throughout your high school life. It is even the multiplication of these grades by a certain coefficient. This is called the Secondary Education Success Score (OBP). That is exactly why I used the term 'GPA' in my tweet, not 'diploma grade'.

But I see that you haven't understood this either. Why the need for distortion, sir; if we did the same, they would take us away in reverse handcuffs from the door shortly after, as you know. If I had wanted to find your diploma grade, I could have said it was around 76 by dividing your OBP by the coefficient multiplier, but I never mentioned a diploma grade. Furthermore, words like 'absolute ignoramus' do not suit someone as educated, cultured, and experienced as a former Minister who has studied at places like METU. I did not insult you; as a young Turk, I only asked a question. After all, you are in that seat representing me. You are the one who does not understand the question and speaks as if I mentioned a diploma grade when I did not; do I call you an 'absolute ignoramus'?

If your interview offer is still valid, I accept it gladly. While we are together, we can also talk about other topics on the agenda and do some good work in the name of journalism. For example, we can also talk about how you, Ms. Fatma Betül Sayan, and her brother Ömer Bey, who heads the BTK, have started deleting the diplomas on their own official websites.
