AKP MP criticizes trustee in Esenyurt: 'It casts a shadow on my cause'

AKP İstanbul MP Seyithan İzsiz, while attending an event, criticized the actions of the administration led by Istanbul Deputy Governor Can Aksoy, who was appointed as a trustee to Esenyurt in October 2024 following the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer.

Addressing the municipality's increases in occupation compensation (ecrimisil), İzsiz said, "In the past, occupation compensation was adjusted with small increases every 5 years. If it is being increased by 100 percent or 200 percent today, as a member of parliament for this country, I do not accept this."

"THEY ARE TRYING TO BRING BREAD TO THEIR CHILDREN"

According to a report by halktv.com.tr, İzsiz stated in his speech that tradespeople at the Evren Industrial Site in Esenyurt were being victimized, saying, "Since the industrial site became active in the 1990s, 5 mayors have served. You cannot now send notices to tradespeople who have 40-50 square meter shops for the small areas they built out of sheet metal in front of their shops to earn their living. These people are trying to bring bread to their children there."

In his speech, İzsiz also criticized the bureaucrats who began serving during the trustee period, stating, "A head of the municipal police who came from Arnavutköy does not meet with anyone in Esenyurt, does not establish a dialogue. This gentleman is casting a shadow on my cause; I do not accept this."

In his remarks, İzsiz also used the expression, "Esenyurt is a valuable district; we do not have the luxury of losing either Esenyurt or Istanbul once again."
