AKP's Nihat Zeybekci, who defended trade with Israel, criticizes the business world: 'We were the only ones to speak up...'
AKP's Nihat Zeybekci, who defended trade with Israel by saying, "We strongly condemn the massacre, fair enough, but on the other hand, Israel is a country with which we have a free trade agreement," reacted to the silence of the business world on the matter.
AKP Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci's defense of trade with Israel continues to remain on the agenda.
Zeybekci's assessment, "I mean, fair enough, we condemn with hatred the baby massacre that Israel is committing against Muslims. But on the other hand, regarding the parts of trade that do not harm anyone, Israel is a country with which we have a free trade agreement. It is a country from which we buy 1 for every 6 we sell," caused controversy.
Stating that he stands by his words following the reactions, Zeybekci brought up the silence of the business world, which did not support his remarks, in a post on his social media account.
"The institutions, organizations, unions, and associations that are the actual addressees of the problem we voiced... choosing silence instead of protecting the interests of their members and following up on their problems..." said Zeybekci, reacting by saying, "We were the only ones to speak up, so be it."
