AKP's Abdullah Güler announces: 'Grievances' regarding presidential and former presidential salaries have been resolved!
AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler announced that they will resolve grievances regarding the salaries of the President and former Presidents with a new regulation.
AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler announced that a new regulation has been introduced regarding the salaries of the President and former Presidents. Güler stated that with the change, existing grievances will be resolved.
Making statements regarding the increase in holiday bonuses for retirees, Güler noted that the bonuses have been raised from 3,000 TL to 4,000 TL. Responding to questions from members of the press, Güler provided information about the regulation covering the salaries of the President and former Presidents.
Güler stated the following:
"Since the pandemic, the salaries and retirement rights of our former presidents have been covered by an allowance for a very long time. We are changing this. We are moving the President's salary to the Law No. 3055 on Allowances and Travel Expenses of Vice Presidents and Ministers and Representation Allowances. From now on, within the allowance—which was unfortunately an area the opposition exploited like chewing gum—just as the salaries of ministers, vice presidents, and members of parliament are calculated, along with their retirement rights... Because currently, our President receives a salary, but we also have former presidents. Their personal rights and salaries were also calculated based on this coefficient. It had become very low at this point. Therefore, we are bringing the presidential salary into the same category as the salary calculations for our ministers, vice presidents, and members of parliament. With such a regulation, we will have corrected the old practice and eliminated the grievances."
ERDOĞAN'S SALARY INCREASES
On the other hand, a significant increase in the Palace allowance was projected in the 2025 budget proposal. According to the budget bill submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), the salary of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was increased by 30 percent, rising from 183,000 TL to 238,000 TL.
While representation and promotion expenses allocated for the Palace were set at 255 million TL, a total of 16 billion 928 million 146 thousand TL in funding was allocated to the Palace from the 2025 central budget.
