AKP Provincial Chair and two deputies raid hospital: When the Chief Physician wouldn't come to him...

An incident involving AKP Provincial Chair Murat Öztürk in Karaman has become the focus of the local press.

AKP's Öztürk summoned Halil İbrahim Taşçı, Chief Physician of Karaman Training and Research Hospital, to the party's provincial headquarters.

Upon Taşçı's response of "Let's meet at the Health Directorate," Öztürk went to the hospital with 2 of his associates. Without notifying anyone that they were going to the hospital and without making an appointment, Öztürk and his associates raided Chief Physician Taşçı's office.

Following the ensuing argument, ornaments and flower pots in Taşçı's office fell to the floor.

Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk, who brought the allegation currently on the agenda to his column, reported on the meeting he held with AKP Karaman Provincial Chair Murat Öztürk.

Claiming that complaints had been received from citizens regarding the Chief Physician and the hospital, Öztürk stated that they had invited Taşçı for this reason.

Claiming that Taşçı gave invalid responses to the complaints in question, Öztürk said, "Some want to turn this visit of ours into an opportunity against us politically and create space for themselves."

Murat Öztürk's statements are as follows:

"We are receiving complaints from citizens about the Chief Physician and the hospital. Specifically, appointments cannot be made for the ophthalmology clinic. Some simple procedures are not performed at the hospital, and citizens are sent to Konya. There is a stubbornness between the Chief Physician and some doctors. Doctors do not examine even one person over the appointment quota. Complaints are coming in regarding the hospital management's indifference to what is happening, and these are being relayed to us. We invited the Chief Physician to discuss these issues. I stated that there were problems and complaints regarding the hospital. When he didn't come, I went to his office with my two deputies. He gave invalid answers to what we explained regarding the complaints. He first changed the staff's working hours as he pleased, then changed them back to the old state. When we asked why he made such a change and then why he changed it back, he couldn't explain that either.

THEY WANT TO TURN IT INTO AN OPPORTUNITY

The friction between the Chief Physician and the staff is also reflected on the citizens. We voiced the problems experienced in the gynecology, surgery, and internal medicine departments, especially ophthalmology. We asked him to correct the management weakness. We stated that citizens cannot get appointments for days. We explained that these need to be corrected. Some want to turn this visit of ours into an opportunity against us politically and create space for themselves.

In other words, something happened in the office, but those events did not turn into a fistfight. All that remained were the ornaments scattered on the floor, the shouting and yelling that reflected outside, the Chief Physician leaving his office, and the repercussions of this. Karaman's agenda is the raiding of the hospital chief physician's office by the AKP provincial chair and his two deputies..."
