AKP-run Bahçelievler Municipality sets up iftar tent in schoolyard

Following the "recommendations for Ramadan activities" sent to schools by the Ministry of National Education (MEB), an iftar tent was set up in the yard of a primary school in Istanbul's Bahçelievler district.

Furthermore, in a video shared by the Fatih District Directorate of National Education, students from Cağaloğlu Anatolian High School were filmed inviting people to iftar, performing prayers, and speaking about fasting.

Gül İnce, President of the Eğitim-İş Istanbul No. 1 Branch, stated, "Organizing such events in public schools should be evaluated in terms of the principles of secularism and neutrality in education. Can similar events be held for other faiths, or are the practices of only one religion being highlighted? Schoolyards belong to the children. Protecting educational spaces is the responsibility of not just educators, but the entire society."
