AKP-run Elazığ Municipality to spend 18 million TL to build a 4-6 age Quran course

The Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) is adding another to the 4-6 age Quran courses it presents as an “alternative model to preschool education.” 

According to the report by Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün, the AKP-run Elazığ Municipality will spend millions of liras to have a 4-6 age Quran course built for the Diyanet.

18.8 MILLION TENDER 

The Elazığ Municipality Directorate of Financial Services held a tender on September 12 for the “Construction of a 4-6 Age Quran Course Service Building in our city's Sürsürü Neighborhood.” The cost within the scope of the tender was calculated at approximately 20 million 617 thousand 908 TL. The tender, which received a total of five valid bids, was concluded on October 11. 

A contract was signed between the municipality and a company named FDC İnşaat. The amount of the agreement made by the municipality for the 4-6 age Quran course building was recorded as 18 million 888 thousand 888 TL. Construction of the 4-6 age Quran course, which will be built in the Sürsürü Neighborhood located in the center of Elazığ, began on October 11. It was stated that the construction would be completed by April 11, 2024.
