AKP Spokesperson Çelik reacts to CHP Chair Özel over Netanyahu: 'Unqualified and mindless'

AKP's Çelik reacted to the statements made by CHP Chair Özgür Özel at his party's parliamentary group meeting in a post on his social media account.

Çelik said the following in his statement:

"Özgür Özel mentioning our President in the same sentence as Netanyahu is an example of political wretchedness. The mindset of Özgür Özel is an unqualified and mindless one that calls Hamas a terrorist organization, calls Palestinian children Israeli, and has made its side clear today. Let Özgür Özel try to utter those insolent sentences questioning our President's sensitivity toward Palestine in Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem, and see the answer he would receive from our Palestinian brothers and sisters. It is very clear that our Palestinian brothers and sisters would view anyone who attempts to question our President's sensitivity toward Palestine as a 'collaborator of the Netanyahu mindset'."

What did Özgür Özel say?

"Just as we called on all democrats in Turkey to resist the coup, we realized a meeting in Barcelona after a year and a half of effort, inviting all the world's democrats—from America to Brazil, uniting those under the PES umbrella who have bridged the gap between the Socialist International and the Progressive Alliance in Europe—along with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and declaring a global mobilization.

While we were in Barcelona for that meeting, Europe's far-right in Milan reacted to it. Those who hold Islamophobic rhetoric, enemies of Turkey, xenophobes, and all kinds of far-right structures gathered there against the world's democrats and criticized our meeting.

From Turkey, the Justice and Development Party's secretary general and spokespeople also criticized our meeting. Everyone is with those they deserve, everyone is with those they love, everyone is with those who share similar dreams.

They are on the same line as Europe's far-right, the Trump who supports them, and the Netanyahu supported by Trump. We are on the same side and together with Israel, the Palestine Liberation Organization, Pedro Sanchez, Lula in Brazil, and all the democrats of the world."
