AKP Spokesperson Çelik reacts to headscarf incident in TRNC
AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik has reacted to a student wearing a headscarf being denied entry to Irsen Küçük Secondary School in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated the following:
We strongly condemn the obstruction of a student from entering Irsen Küçük Secondary School in the TRNC due to her attire by certain individuals. This ugly approach, which violates the right to education, is a form of fanaticism that contradicts human rights.
The sentences they use to manufacture excuses for this ugliness are grave. We have waged a very fundamental struggle for democracy in our country against this fanaticism.
Those who signed off on these bans in the past were left alone with their shame. This same fanaticism must be prevented from harming the TRNC. We hope that this ugly approach, which is contrary to the most fundamental values, will be corrected.
