Using the phrase 'we condemn the disrespect' regarding the caricature, AKP spokesperson Ömer Çelik made the following statement regarding Leman magazine:

"We condemn the disrespect shown to our Prophet by a humor magazine.

This ugliness has nothing to do with art or freedom of expression.

Disrespect towards our sacred values is a hate crime and a cursed act.

Just as we fight against the disrespect shown towards our sacred values by fascists in Europe, we will fight against these cursed acts in the same way."
