AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made a statement regarding the murders of women that have dominated Turkey's agenda. Speaking after the MYK meeting regarding the killing of two young women in Fatih and the death of baby Sıla following abuse, Çelik said they would fight to ensure these events do not go unpunished.
Çelik used the following expressions in his statement:
"In recent days, two murders of women were committed. I do not want to go into the details; it is extremely saddening. Our President dedicated a significant portion of time to this painful picture. During this MYK meeting, we learned that baby Sıla lost her life. We are profoundly saddened.
Today, we again have a broad agenda to ensure that a perception of impunity does not form. In particular, a comprehensive briefing was provided during this MYK meeting. We are not deaf to the complaints of our women that they cannot go home comfortably. The safety of our women is the safety of civilization. Such heinous acts are taking place. I want to state that we will do whatever is necessary regarding such acts.
We will not allow a perception of impunity to form.
We will continue to work for the protection of children by submitting parliamentary questions regarding the prevention of child abuse and the protection of children."
