As the local elections approach, mayoral candidates from political parties continue to disclose their assets.

Following Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, ABB mayoral candidate Turgut Altınok, and İBB mayoral candidate Murat Kurum have also declared their assets.

"Property is not ours, it belongs to God; it is all God's, we are just trustees", Turgut Altınok said before declaring his assets, which became a major topic of discussion.

The debates surrounding Altınok's assets have extended as far as Antalya.

It has come to light that Altınok owns 660 apartments in Antalya, which were not included in his declared assets. Details have been obtained regarding the housing project located in the Altıntaş neighborhood of Antalya's Aksu district, which began construction in 2020.

According to the report by Yusuf Yavuz; it was revealed that the contractor for the 660-unit housing project rising on a 12,129 m2 plot, which appears in land registry and project files to belong to Hacı Altınok, is Ramazan Karabulut, President of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club. Karabulut, who has made headlines for his fondness for luxury cars, is known to be a relative of CHP Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek.

In his speech at an iftar gathering held in Aksu Altıntaş the other day, Böcek explained his projects, stating, "Contractors are our dear ones, our brothers, but contractors alone are not enough. The owners of these lands, passed down from fathers and ancestors, are the people of Aksu."

The fact that the debate, which began after AKP's Ankara Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Turgut Altınok declared his assets, has spilled over into Antalya has revealed how politics and zoning rent are intertwined, regardless of party affiliation.

AKP'S ALTINOK FIRST SAID 'INHERITED', THEN DENIED IT

Journalist Murat Ağırel brought up the allegation that Turgut Altınok owns 600 apartments in Antalya's Aksu district and did not disclose them in his asset declaration. Following this, when asked "Do you have assets in Antalya?", Altınok replied, "I am talking about what was inherited from my father, my previous assets." However, Altınok later denied the allegation in a written statement.

AGRICULTURAL LANDS TURNED INTO TURKEY'S LARGEST CONSTRUCTION SITE

The Altıntaş neighborhood in Antalya's Aksu district has become one of the largest construction sites in the country in recent years. Until recently, agricultural production was carried out in the area right next to Antalya Airport, but now hundreds of housing projects are rising. This place was covered with agricultural lands in the past. Today, it looks like a construction site where the shadows of thousands of tower cranes fall.

AKP'S ALTINOK'S CONTRACTOR TURNS OUT TO BE A RELATIVE OF THE CHP MAYOR

In Altıntaş, where the debate over the assets of AKP's Ankara Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Turgut Altınok has also spread, there are housing projects, each the size of a town. It has been revealed that the contractor for some of those projects is Ramazan Karabulut, President of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club and businessman. Ramazan Karabulut, who has come to the fore with claims that he is a relative of Antalya Metropolitan Mayor and CHP candidate Muhittin Böcek, has one project in the Altıntaş region consisting of 660 residences.

12,000 M2 PLOT REGISTERED TO HACI ALTINOK

Hacı Altınok's name appears in the land registry of the 12,129 m2 plot located on parcel 15405/1, east of Antalya Airport. A housing project consisting of 660 residences was prepared by 'Ramazan Karabulut Construction Transportation Automotive Tourism Food Marketing Trade Limited Company' on the land, which was registered on March 14, 2019. On September 26, 2022, the Antalya Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change issued an 'EIA Not Required' decision for the project, which consists of 3 blocks, two planned as 14 stories and one as 16 stories. In the images before the project started, it can be seen that the area where the land is located consisted of lands where agricultural production was carried out and greenhouses were located.

MAYOR BÖCEK: 'ALTINTAŞ IS TURKEY'S MOST INTENSELY DEVELOPED AREA'

The Altıntaş region in Antalya, which has come to the fore again with the Altınok family's apartments, has looked like a construction site where Turkey's most intense housing projects have been rising for the last 3-4 years. In his speech in Altıntaş in September 2023, Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek stated that this region was declared an urban transformation and development project area in 2018, and that the region, consisting of 1,389 hectares and 4,100 parcels, is currently Turkey's most intensely developed area.

1,382 PERMITS ISSUED IN ALTINTAŞ SINCE 2020

Noting that 1,382 permits have been issued for 483 zoning blocks and 18,275 independent units in the Altıntaş region since April 10, 2020, Mayor Böcek provided information that 238 permit applications are under preliminary review.

IT WILL BE A SECOND KONYAALTI IN ANTALYA

Reminding that when he was first elected mayor in 1999, Konyaaltı consisted of 8,800 people and 4 villages, Mayor Böcek said, "Konyaaltı is currently the district with the highest population growth. I will make Altıntaş the most special place in Turkey with its infrastructure and asphalt. We started with the infrastructure. We are opening the roads one by one. The total of the sub-investments we will make in Altıntaş is approximately 2 billion liras."

'CONTRACTORS ARE OUR DEAR ONES, OUR BROTHERS'

Antalya Metropolitan Mayor and CHP mayoral candidate Muhittin Böcek attaches special importance to the Altıntaş region. Participating in an iftar program in Aksu Altıntaş on March 21, Mayor Böcek said in his speech there, "Contractors are our dear ones, our brothers, but contractors alone are not enough. The owners of these lands, passed down from fathers and ancestors, are the people of Aksu. God has granted us the opportunity to meet with the people of Aksu today. We will continue our work with the same determination and resolve, together with our investor contractor brothers and friends, with you, and with our council member friends, to do whatever is necessary to build on your lands passed down from your fathers and ancestors," he said.

SPENDING WILL BE MADE FROM THE 59 MILLION EURO LOAN FOR ALTINTAŞ

Mentioning the investments made in Aksu, Böcek stated that Altıntaş is developing very rapidly and noted that they will spend money for the region's infrastructure within the scope of the newly signed 59 million Euro loan.
