AKP's Vaniköy claim: IMM filed criminal complaint after ministry inspection

Accusing the IMM of misleading the public, Osman Nuri Kabaktepe said,

"The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality had announced that it filed a criminal complaint regarding the unauthorized construction in Vaniköy on August 16. It has been determined that after the inspection carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change on August 22, they submitted the criminal complaint petition to the prosecutor's office at 16:41 on the same day."

Stating that "In this case, the IMM's declaration that it filed the criminal complaint much earlier does not reflect the truth," Kabaktepe added,

"The IMM administration took action and filed a criminal complaint only after the ministry's inspection. This situation clearly reveals that the IMM has provided false and misleading information to the public."

"IMM HURRIEDLY CREATED A RETROACTIVE REPORT"

Claiming that the IMM prepared the report retroactively, Kabaktepe said, "In the construction modification report prepared by the IMM regarding the illegal construction in Vaniköy, a 'simple repair certificate' should have been mentioned. However, this report, which the IMM claims was issued on August 16, was actually prepared retroactively based on the criminal complaint on August 22.

Following the inspection by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the IMM hurriedly created a retroactive construction modification report."

Claiming that there are deficiencies in the report, Kabaktepe continued as follows:

"It is clearly seen that this report was prepared hastily and retroactively, as many details that should have been included in the report are missing. This lack of documentation and the subsequent retroactive arrangements are further proof of how unprepared and unplanned the IMM has acted in this process.

Instead of telling the truth to the people of Istanbul, they tried to save the situation with these retroactive arrangements made in a panic.

These events show the extent of the disrespect the IMM administration has for the people of Istanbul. Just as in the 'Fazilet Bus Stop' lie of the past, the IMM administration has once again chosen to distort the truth and deceive the people of Istanbul. Whenever they are cornered, they have made it a method to deceive the public by resorting to lies.

"AN APPROACH DEVOID OF TRANSPARENCY AND HONESTY"

Expressing his condemnation of the municipal administration, Osman Nuri Kabaktepe said, "We will be the followers of these kinds of lies and distorted statements by the IMM administration. The people of Istanbul do not deserve such a contradictory and misleading administration.

I condemn this approach, which is devoid of transparency and honesty, and I invite the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to inform the public correctly and fulfill its responsibilities as soon as possible.

Finally, we view the IMM administration's effort to present every issue as a fait accompli with regret. It is impossible not to think that they act with the understanding of avoiding responsibility when noticed, and continuing with irregular and unethical practices when not noticed. We will continue to protect the rights of the people of Istanbul against such approaches."
