Alaattin Köseler sends a message in a letter from prison: 'It is not over, it will not end'

CHP Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler wrote a letter in his own handwriting to the people of Beykoz from the prison where he is being held.

Köseler stated, "Neither our struggle nor our love for Beykoz has ended, and it will not end."

Alaattin Köseler, who began his handwritten letter with the words, "I am addressing you from Paşakapısı Prison, where I am being held hostage with a great injustice, and from Silivri Prison, where I was brought on March 06, 2025," noted the following:

'IT GIVES ME THE STRENGTH TO ENDURE ALL DIFFICULTIES'

"I do not want you to worry. My health is good, and my morale is high. The confidence that comes from being in the right and having a clear conscience gives me the strength to endure all difficulties... I was elected with your votes on the evening of March 31, 2024, to serve my Beykoz, the place where I built my home and whose every street I know by heart, with your favor. From that day on, I implemented a municipal approach that is equal, transparent, fair, and participatory. Through Neighborhood Meetings, we listened to the troubles of all our neighbors in our 24 neighborhoods, tried to solve their problems, and were always side-by-side with our people. We provided books, stationery, and nutritional support to our students; we provided seedlings and bee feed to our producers. We opened Beykoz's first retirees' cafe and made tea 1 TL for our retirees.

'OUR EXPERIENCE IS VAST, OUR ROAD IS LONG'

With our 'Home Beykoz' project, we established daytime childcare centers in Çamlıbahçe and Çavuşbaşı Çiftlik Neighborhood, which are waiting to be opened. We have started the 2B title deed deliveries that our people have been waiting for. We provided transportation support to our people in the neighborhoods and started on-site treatment services for stray animals. We continued our solidarity for a more beautiful Beykoz through social, cultural, artistic, sporting, and economic efforts... So... Is it over? It is not. Because our dreams for Beykoz are big, our experience is vast, and our road is long..."

'THESE DAYS OF OPPRESSION WILL SURELY END'

"Even if we are separated today, we will walk shoulder to shoulder again tomorrow on the same streets, with the same hope. The will of the people will continue to win in Beykoz. Neither our struggle nor our love for Beykoz has ended, and it will not end... The rights of the people of Beykoz will be protected in urban renewal, and we will continue the practices we started with the idea that 'The people of Beykoz will stay in Beykoz.' I would like you to remember these words of our master artist Edip Akbayram, whose loss I learned with great sadness while in prison, and who never bowed his head to injustice even once: 'The bandit shall not rule the world.' These days of oppression will surely end, and we will reunite. With longing and respect..."
