Alarm at livestock markets

In a written statement issued by the Yozgat Governor's Office, it was stated that foot-and-mouth disease, which has been observed throughout the city and in surrounding provinces, is showing a tendency to spread.

The statement, which noted that the source of the disease is animals purchased from livestock markets, included the following:

"It has been decided that all livestock markets across the province will be closed to animal entry as of January 15, 2024, until further notice.

Animal movements in towns and villages under quarantine have been halted until further notice.

It is of great importance that animal owners in these villages do not buy or sell animals until the quarantine ends."
