Alevi figures issue 'dictatorship' and AKP warning to Kılıçdaroğlu: You can spoil the game

As debates over absolute nullity continue within the CHP, letters of appeal are being written to former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Following three former CHP chairmen, a group of Alevi intellectuals, journalists, writers, and opinion leaders have issued a call to Kılıçdaroğlu. The letter states, "We call on Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu to fulfill his historical responsibility and spoil this dirty game aimed at extending the political life of the ruling power."

The call text included the following statements:

"A CALL TO KILIÇDAROĞLU AND THE SOCIAL OPPOSITION

We, the undersigned, independent of the titles we hold and the institutions we belong to, consider it a historical responsibility to make the following statement to the public:

Today in Turkey, the gains of the Republic and the democratic accumulation of humanity are under heavy attack. Our country has reached a historical crossroads where its future will be redefined. The AKP government, which destroys the secular order, eliminates the rule of law, turns the judiciary into a political tool, and liquidates democratic rights and freedoms, is dragging Turkey toward a dictatorship.

Furthermore, the 23-year AKP government has established a rent-based order of plunder where the economic crisis has deepened, the production economy has collapsed, justice in income distribution has completely disappeared, and poverty and misery have intensified.

At this historical junction, we are facing a 'coup' process initiated by the government on March 19 through the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. In this process, the CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, mayors, and employees are being arrested. Journalists are being thrown into dungeons.

In line with this stance, the government wants to turn the debates regarding the 38th Congress, where a change in management took place in the CHP, into an opportunity. To this end, it is calculating to obtain a court decision in the case to be heard on June 30 that would either declare the congress void through 'absolute nullity' or appoint a trustee. The goal is to collapse the CHP organization and thereby break the rising wave of social opposition.

The Palace anticipates that in such a scenario, there will be a major moral collapse within the CHP and the wave of social opposition will dissipate.

It is clear that in this process, the government is also making calculations based on the name of Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. For all these reasons, Kılıçdaroğlu must spoil this government plot. Kılıçdaroğlu must join forces with the current CHP management to neutralize the attempt to regulate and neutralize the CHP through the judiciary, which the government has politicized.

Meanwhile, we see that various circles, including the government, both inside and outside the CHP, are also including Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu's Alevi identity in the discussions. This malicious attitude aims to create a fragmentation both within the CHP and in the democratic opposition bloc. This dirty attempt must not be given an opportunity.

We call on Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu to fulfill his historical responsibility and spoil this dirty game aimed at extending the political life of the ruling power.

Respectfully. June 27, 2025"
