DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan issued a statement on social media regarding the failure to release journalist Fatih Altaylı in court and the re-arrest of talent manager Ayşe Barım. Stating that he believes Altaylı is being held in pre-trial detention unjustly, Babacan said, "While I was hoping for Fatih Altaylı to be released at today's hearing, I must express that the re-arrest of Ayşe Barım, who is suffering from serious health problems, immediately after she was released, has pained us all."
In his statement, Babacan also added, "This country deserves to be governed with justice and mercy by people of conscience who can look each other in the eye."

"While I was hoping for journalist Fatih Altaylı, who I believe is being held in pre-trial detention unjustly and unlawfully, to be released at today's hearing;
I must express that the re-arrest of Ayşe Barım, who is suffering from serious health problems, immediately after she was released, has pained us all.
This country deserves to be governed with justice and mercy by people of conscience who can look each other in the eye."
