Ali Mahir Başarır reacts to the arrest of Ege Akersoy: Public prosecutors, pull yourselves together

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır reacted to the arrest of university student Ege Akersoy, who punched a person holding a tawhid flag during the "Mercy to the Martyrs, Support for Palestine" march held in Istanbul yesterday.

Başarır asked, "Should those who rebel against the Constitution and try to destroy the constitutional order, the supporters of the caliphate, be arrested, or should the Turkish youth who is in the prime of his life and says 'this is the Republic of Turkey' be arrested? Or should the caliphate supporter who had the audacity to slap a police officer while waving a caliphate flag next to him be arrested?"

In his post, Başarır also used the expressions, "Public prosecutors, pull yourselves together; do not forget the meaning of the word 'Republic' at the beginning of your title!"

WHAT HAPPENED?

An individual who participated in the "Mercy to Our Martyrs, Support for Palestine, Curse on Israel" rally held in Istanbul today under the leadership of TÜGVA and who was carrying a "tawhid" flag was assaulted.

Ege Akersoy, who carried out the attack and was learned to be a university student, was arrested by the judgeship to which he was referred.
