During the meeting, a decision will be made to initiate the congresses, after which the regular congress calendar will be implemented.
WHEN IS THE AKP'S GRAND CONGRESS?
According to the schedule for the 8th Ordinary Grand Congress, the process will begin with town congresses, followed by district and provincial congresses, and finally the grand congress.
According to A Haber, which is known for its proximity to the government, the process is planned to begin in October, with provincial congresses to be completed by the Ramadan Feast, and the grand congress to be held in May.
PARTY CADRES TO CHANGE
Taking March 2021 as a reference, the AKP will hold its ordinary congress in 2025, one year beyond the legal deadline due to elections. With this congress, party cadres across the country will also be re-evaluated.
ERDOĞAN TO CHANGE HIS A-TEAM
Erdoğan will have the authority over the Central Decision and Executive Board, which is the party's governing body and consists of 110 members including alternates.
It has been learned that Erdoğan will also make changes to his A-team. AKP officials view the congress process as the determination of new cadres for the 2028 elections.
