Allegations of bribery and bid-rigging in military tender: Lawsuit filed against 19 suspects
As part of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Military Crimes Investigation Bureau, a public lawsuit has been filed against 19 suspects over allegations of irregularities in tenders related to military cargo and passenger transport activities within the Land Forces Command.
It was stated that the military cargo and passenger transport activities required by the Land Forces Command were met through service procurement using civilian resources, and that acts subject to the crimes of "rigging the performance of an obligation" and "receiving/giving bribes" were detected in the processes carried out by the Transportation Management Branch Directorate of the Land Forces Logistics Command's Logistics Management Department.
Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings were initiated against 4 military personnel serving in the Control Organization, as well as company owners and officials, for the crimes of "rigging the performance of an obligation" and "receiving/giving bribes" in a chain manner; additionally, a public lawsuit was filed against 15 suspects who signed progress payment documents on behalf of the company for the crime of "rigging the performance of an obligation" in a chain manner.
While the prepared indictment was sent to the Ankara 1st High Criminal Court, it was noted that the proceedings carried out by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding other suspects, within the scope of crimes subject to investigation permission, are being meticulously continued.
