Allegations of Competition Authority investigation into digital platforms

The Competition Authority had previously launched an investigation into 21 companies, including ID Danışmanlık, regarding allegations of monopolization in the TV series and film industry in Turkey. Subsequently, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it had launched an ex officio investigation into Ayşe Barım, the founder and partner of ID Danışmanlık, to uncover the material truth, accepting the allegations in social media posts and news reports as a formal complaint. It was reported that a travel ban was imposed on Barım within the scope of the investigation.

Another investigation has been opened against talent manager Ayşe Barım, who has been at the center of the agenda with allegations of monopolization in the sector.

Barım, who is alleged to have been among the planners of the Gezi Park protests, was detained on charges of "attempting to abolish the Republic of Turkey or to prevent it from performing its duties."

While searches were conducted at Barım's home and workplace, actors Halit Ergenç, Dolunay Soysert, Rıza Kocaoğlu, Mehmet Günsür, Ceyda Düvenci, and Nejat İşler were also brought to the courthouse under police escort to provide statements as part of the investigation.

Following these developments, it was claimed that the Competition Authority has taken a new step regarding the allegations of monopolization in the TV series and film industry.

Fuat Uğur, a columnist for the pro-government TV100, stated in a post on his social media account, "Competition Authority inspectors raided digital platforms such as Netflix, Disney, BluTV, Exxen, and Gain yesterday, examining their computers and files. Following the examinations, investigations may also be launched into these platforms."
