Allegations of Hulusi Akar's involvement behind the discharge request for lieutenants!
Journalist Nevşin Mengü has alleged that Hulusi Akar is behind the decision to refer the lieutenants, who recited the officer's oath by crossing swords and chanting "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal," to disciplinary action with a request for their discharge. According to the claim, Akar allegedly approached MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and told him that the lieutenants who took the oath were affiliated with the Zafer Party. Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ issued a stern statement in response to these allegations.
Following the graduation ceremony at the National Defense University Military Academy on August 30, 2024, the newly graduated lieutenants crossed their swords for the traditional oath-taking ceremony and chanted the slogan, "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal."
While pro-government media outlets hinted that the young lieutenants were 'coup plotters,' AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated, "We will ensure that those involved in this matter receive the punishment they deserve. This is not a playground for those who do not know their place. We will certainly not leave our country to a field where these people who do not know their place can run wild."
Following Erdoğan's statement, the lieutenants, who were already under investigation, were referred to disciplinary action with a request for their discharge.
Journalist Nevşin Mengü has claimed that Hulusi Akar had a hand in the process.
“HE DOES NOT WANT TO REMAIN A MERE MP”
In a video published on her YouTube channel, Sharing striking examples by saying, "Hulusi Akar is a true careerist. He is someone who is very ambitious for his political career after his military career ended. He does whatever it takes... Looking at what he has done in the past, this also becomes clear," Nevşin Mengü added, "He served as a minister for a period, then was removed from the ministry, and now he is just a regular member of parliament... He does not want to remain a regular member of parliament." she stated.
“HE PROVOKED DEVLET BAHÇELİ”
Continuing her remarks regarding the oath ceremony, “According to the information I have obtained, he reached out to Devlet Bahçeli first and provoked him,” Mengü shared the inside information, suggesting that Hulusi Akar tried to put himself in the spotlight by telling Devlet Bahçeli regarding the lieutenants, “These are Zafer Party members; they are attempting an uprising, and it cannot be tolerated.” she said.
“BRING ME BACK”
Assessing that "He is trying to say 'bring me back'," the journalist added, "Very important sources say that this matter has reached this point because of Hulusi Akar's careerism and political ambitions."
REACTION FROM ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ WAS SWIFT
Sharing these allegations on his social media account, Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ reacted by saying, "If these allegations are true, they are very grave. As the Zafer Party, we will follow this closely and investigate."
Ümit Özdağ's post is as follows:
“Nevşin Mengü shared a very important piece of information/allegation. Hulusi Akar allegedly went to Devlet Bahçeli and told him that the lieutenants who took the officer's oath were Zafer Party members.
He provoked Bahçeli against the lieutenants using the Zafer Party.
After the incident on August 30, there were 3 statements of support for the lieutenants from the MHP, but then Bahçeli harshly criticized the lieutenants. Nevşin Mengü explained in her program at the time that the reason for this criticism was Bahçeli's belief that the lieutenants were Zafer Party members:
The sources I spoke with claim that Hulusi Akar is stirring up trouble over the young lieutenants in order to become the Minister of National Defense again.
If these allegations are true, they are very grave. As the Zafer Party, we will follow this closely and investigate.”
