Allegations of negligence in Maradona's death grow stronger

A new claim has emerged regarding the death of Diego Armando Maradona. Seven healthcare workers began standing trial for homicide following the death of the Argentine football legend, who passed away on November 25, 2020.

Carlos Cassinelli, a forensic expert who participated in Maradona's autopsy, said that Maradona suffered greatly during the 12 hours leading up to his death and that this condition could have been identified by doctors. Cassinelli stated that Maradona's heart was completely covered in fat and blood clots, indicating that he was in pain.

According to the autopsy report, Maradona's death was not caused by a heart attack, but by acute pulmonary edema (fluid accumulation in the lungs) due to congestive heart failure. Cassinelli emphasized that Maradona's condition could have been noticed by any doctor and should have been treated.

According to the prosecution's allegations, the healthcare workers responsible for Maradona's care during his recovery period did not provide sufficient medical attention for the Argentine legend. The medical negligence believed to have caused Maradona's death led to the trial of seven healthcare workers.

The individuals involved in this case include Maradona's personal physician, Leopoldo Luque, and psychiatrist Agustine Cocachov, who prescribed his medication until his death. Furthermore, during the investigation, multiple witnesses stated that they noticed extreme swelling in Maradona's face and abdomen.
