Alleged abduction from hospital: Prosecutor's office launches investigation into İnan Kıraç
Allegations that businessman İnan Kıraç was abducted in Istanbul have caused a stir. While the hospital stated that he left without the permission of his legal guardians, the prosecutor's office has launched an investigation. Two people have been detained in connection with the incident.
Allegations that prominent businessman İnan Kıraç had been "abducted" emerged yesterday evening. Following these claims, which spread rapidly on social media, consecutive statements were issued by the hospital where he was receiving treatment and by judicial authorities.
HOSPITAL: "HE LEFT WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF HIS GUARDIANS"
In an official statement regarding the incident, the hospital where İnan Kıraç was receiving treatment announced that Kıraç had left the hospital without the knowledge of his legal guardians. The statement included the following remarks:
"Mr. İnan Kıraç was admitted to our hospital on May 21, 2025, for a general check-up at the request of his guardians. On May 22, 2025, after all his examinations were completed, Mr. Kıraç left the hospital with his assistant and driver, who were accompanying him, without the permission of his guardians, while the guardians were present at the hospital and before his discharge procedures had been finalized. The allegations regarding an abduction do not reflect the truth."
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE TAKES ACTION, 2 DETAINED
Following the allegations, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the incident. It has been learned that 2 people have been detained so far as part of the investigation.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
İnan Kıraç had made headlines in December 2024 with his marriage to Emine Alangoya. Kıraç's daughter, İpek Kıraç, had applied to the Istanbul Anatolian 18th Family Court for the annulment of the marriage. The court had decided that İnan Kıraç should undergo neurological tests at the Council of Forensic Medicine. İnan Kıraç appeared before the panel at the 10th Specialized Board of the Council of Forensic Medicine, which evaluates requests for the appointment of a guardian and legal restrictions. The report prepared after the tests conducted on Kıraç was sent to the court.
The report stated that İnan Kıraç lacked legal capacity and that a guardian should be appointed. The Anatolian 18th Family Court decided to revoke İnan Kıraç's legal capacity, and lawyers Atakan Yılmaz and Mert Öztekin were appointed as temporary guardians.
Lawyers for the parties attended the 'annulment of marriage' case heard at the Anatolian 18th Family Court. The court decided to await the outcome of the guardianship case heard at the Anatolian 2nd Civil Court of Peace and adjourned the hearing.
It was alleged that nurses sent from Koç Hospital to take over the care of İnan Kıraç at the request of his guardians were not allowed into the house by Emine Alangoya, and that Kıraç was first taken to Bodrum and then to Antalya. It was also alleged that a dispute occurred yesterday between the guardians, who wanted to implement the court decision, and Emine Alangoya at the Istanbul Kartal Training and Research Hospital. Kıraç was transferred to Koç Hospital for treatment.
According to a report by Halk TV, it was alleged that İnan Kıraç, who was at Koç Hospital, was put into a car and abducted from the hospital yesterday evening.
