A graduate of the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Aysel Öymen became Turkey's first female General Director of the Treasury in 1978.
The Öymen couple were married in 1956.

WHO IS AYSEL ÖYMEN?
Aysel Öymen was appointed as the General Director of the Treasury, one of the most important positions in Turkey's economic sphere, and became the first woman to hold this office.
Aysel Öymen, the wife of Altan Öymen, was also known for her sensitivity toward social responsibility projects and women's rights. In addition to being appointed as Turkey's first female General Director of the Treasury, she was regarded as an exemplary figure in the public eye.
