Altınok issues statement regarding reports on his assets

In a statement on his social media account, Altınok noted that some individuals and institutions have published baseless news reports that violate press ethics and professional standards, and are intended to maliciously and deliberately mislead voters and the public during the election period.

Turgut Altınok stated, "After I declared my assets, one of the untrue, false, and slanderous reports published about me is that I am a partner with Sinan Aygün in the TOGO Towers in Ankara, and the other is that I own 600 houses in Antalya."

"FALSE NEWS REPORTS HAVE BEGUN TO BE CIRCULATED"

Explaining that both reports were manipulative efforts commissioned out of frustration and panic, Altınok said, "Contrary to the directed poll results, the favor and trust of the streets and our capital city toward me have increased, and the results have rapidly turned in our favor; in this state of frustration and desperation, baselessly fabricated fake news has begun to be circulated rapidly."

Stating that discussing assets earned and rightfully acquired before entering politics is a waste of time, Altınok noted that his assets did not increase during his mayoral tenure, but rather decreased.

"LEGAL PROCEEDINGS WILL BE INITIATED"

Conveying that all of these claims are entirely lies and slander, Altınok shared the following information: "Legal proceedings will be initiated against those who share, spread, announce, or comment on these and similar imaginary, untrue, malicious, false, and slanderous reports about me—which were commissioned out of a sense of panic—should they continue these ugly behaviors after this statement of mine."

Altınok stated, "A criminal complaint will be filed with the Public Prosecutor's Office against Mr. Murat Ağırel due to the false news he circulated as an allegation without citing a source and without even asking me."
