Amendment to the School Bus Vehicles Regulation

The Regulation on Amending the School Bus Vehicles Regulation has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.

Accordingly, vehicles that meet the age requirement to be used as school buses but exceed the age limit during the contract period may continue to operate, provided that they do not exceed the duration of the current academic year.

Drivers operating school buses must hold a driver's license for at least 2 years for a Class D license and at least 5 years for a Class D1 license. In provinces with a metropolitan municipality, if mandated by a decision of the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME), or by the Provincial Traffic Commission in other provinces, drivers must possess a professional competence certificate within the framework of the Law on Certain Regulations Regarding the Vocational Qualifications Authority.

The requirement for school buses to be equipped with internal and external cameras capable of viewing all seats and a recording device capable of storing data for at least 30 days, as well as the requirement that no glass other than transparent glass showing the interior may be used in the vehicles, will not be sought for 2017 and older models until their first periodic inspection after March 1, 2025.
