Amendment to the 'trustee' clause in the 8th Judicial Package
The clause regarding the appointment of the TMSF as a trustee has been removed from the 8th Judicial Package currently before the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.
Deliberations continue in the TBMM General Assembly on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and Certain Laws and Decree-Law No. 659, known as the 8th Judicial Package.
An amendment motion was submitted regarding one of the articles in the proposal during the deliberations.
Accordingly, the provision stating that "in cases where there is strong suspicion that the crimes of laundering assets derived from crime, armed organization, providing weapons to an armed organization, or financing of terrorism have been committed within the framework of a company's activities, and if judicial authorities decide to appoint a trustee, the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) may be appointed as trustee for a period of 5 years from the date this regulation enters into force" has been removed from the draft text.
