Anchovies hit the stalls: Those who saw the price were outraged!

The first anchovies of the year, caught in the nets of fishermen in the Black Sea, have gone on sale in Tekirdağ. While citizens were shocked by the price of the fish, which exceeds 300 liras per kilogram, İbrahim Pehlivanoğlu, President of the Tekirdağ Süleymanpaşa Fisheries Cooperative, stated that Black Sea anchovies are beginning to stand out for their flavor this season.

SURPASSED BONITO PRICES

Explaining that bonito fishing is continuing, Pehlivanoğlu said, "In addition to bonito, other fish such as horse mackerel and anchovies are also being caught in the nets. There are good anchovies in the Black Sea these days. The anchovies caught in the fishermen's nets are now on the stalls. Along with anchovies, horse mackerel and sardines are also being preferred. This year is proving to be productive for fishermen compared to last year. Fishermen had a good start with bonito. Now we are waiting for the variety of fish to increase. When the variety increases and the amount of fish increases, both the citizens and the fishermen are happy."

Fisherman Bekir Erol also expressed that citizens have had their fill of bonito this year.

Stating that the price of anchovies will drop as they become more abundant, Erol said, "Citizens enjoy consuming anchovies. Anchovies are preferred because they are delicious. We expect that as the amount of fish increases, the demand will also increase further."
