Ankara corridors are buzzing with this claim: The backstory of Devlet Bahçeli's 'Imralı-DEM should meet' call

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, who previously called for the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, to "speak in Parliament," stated at his party's group meeting today: "The MHP stands behind every word it says. We expect face-to-face contact between Imralı and the DEM Group to take place without delay, and we repeat our call with determination."

The details being discussed in Ankara's political corridors regarding the backstory of Bahçeli's "Imralı-DEM should meet" call have emerged.

Journalist Altan Sancar, speaking to Sözcü TV, reported that information had been received yesterday evening (November 25) that DEM Party deputies would go to Imralı to meet with Öcalan, but that the meeting did not take place.

Sancar stated that Bahçeli made this call after the aforementioned meeting failed to occur.

Highlights from Sancar's statements are as follows:

"The claim that a meeting might take place on November 25 reached us yesterday evening. However, it was reported that this meeting did not happen. The reason for the meeting not taking place has not yet been shared.

There was information that a few names from the DEM Party might go to Imralı and meet with Öcalan.

In the following hours, Devlet Bahçeli made a call at his group meeting for this meeting to take place without delay.

The fact that Bahçeli's call is partly based on a meeting that was intended to happen yesterday but did not is an important topic being discussed in Ankara's corridors.

This also shows that, in fact, an effort has been made for some time for this meeting to take place, but as of yesterday, it did not happen.

There was a storm there yesterday. We do not know if it was due to the storm or another development.

It is stated that MHP leader Bahçeli made this call after the meeting did not take place."

CLAIM THAT AHMET TÜRK AND DEVLET BAHÇELİ WILL MEET

On the other hand, it was claimed that Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk, who was replaced by a government-appointed trustee, was on his way to the MHP Headquarters to meet with Devlet Bahçeli.

Following this claim, a photograph of Ahmet Türk with Pervin Buldan in Sırrı Süreyya Önder's office was shared.

It was learned that Ahmet Türk met with DEM Party deputies in Parliament before the group meeting.

The claims that Türk would visit Bahçeli were denied by DEM Party sources.
