Ankara Governor's Office launches investigation into Ayaş District Governor's post: 'I would be sad wondering what sin I committed'

Ayaş District Governor Muharrem Eligül, based in Ankara, issued a controversial press statement regarding reports about him.

Eligül, who frequently used religious expressions in his statement, later deleted the post. CHP Ankara MP Umut Akdoğan quoted Eligül's post and reacted, saying, "Either you will not overstep your bounds, or you will stand behind what you say."

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Following the issue becoming a topic of public debate, a statement came from the Ankara Governor's Office. The Governor's Office announced that an investigation had been launched into the Ayaş District Governor's Office's post.

The statement from the Governor's Office included the following: "An investigation has been initiated by our Governor's Office regarding the statement made by the District Governor's Office via social media concerning an issue that occurred within the scope of the April 23 celebration programs in our Ayaş district."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Ayaş District Governor Muharrem Eligül had issued a press statement regarding reports claiming that "the municipal press officer was not allowed into the ceremony area upon the District Governor's instructions."

District Governor Eligül's controversial statement included the following expressions:

"My dear and esteemed fellow citizens of Ayaş.

A mandatory statement regarding the news shared on the official accounts of the Ayaş Municipality and subsequently by some media outlets that 'the municipal press officer was not allowed into the ceremony area upon the District Governor's instructions.'

First of all, I do not know which part of this baseless news to correct. Municipal officials took photos and videos in the ceremony area quite freely. This situation is already understood from their own posts. If I had used public authority to block them, then who took all those photos, aliens?"

"CORRUPTION IS A BUSINESS SOME CIRCLES KNOW VERY WELL"

However, if the issue is using public authority, as far as we follow from the country's agenda, using public authority to oppress the public and those who are not like them, engaging in immoral acts and indecency while one should be in the position of the 'Trustee of the City' (Şehrin Emini), all kinds of corruption, demanding bribes from business people, and sending municipal police to seal shops like bandits if they do not pay, are things that some circles know very well. They are the very ones who cause unrest with the public authority they hold.

"OTHERWISE, I WOULD BE SAD WONDERING WHAT SIN I COMMITTED, MY GOD"

Entering the tomb of our ancestor Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han, who attained the glad tidings of our Prophet, with indecency and kicking his sarcophagus is also in the nature and character of those whose spiritual roots are abroad. The fact that dark circles are attacking me is, thank God, an indication that I am on the right path. Otherwise, I would be sad wondering, 'My God, what sin did I commit that they feel affection for me?' May the mercy and peace of Almighty Allah be upon you."
