The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has denied reports claiming that Mansur Yavaş used the words, "I will never be a 3rd candidate. One does not become a candidate for certain positions; one is nominated."
Mansur Yavaş, who is frequently the subject of reports regarding presidential candidacy in political circles, has denied a new claim that recently emerged about him.
Yavaş issued a denial through the municipality's official account regarding allegations that he had personally stated, "I will never be a 3rd candidate. One does not become a candidate for certain positions; one is nominated."
The following statement was issued by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality:
"It has been claimed in some media outlets that Mansur Yavaş said, 'I will never be a 3rd candidate. One does not become a candidate for certain positions; one is nominated.'
These words do not belong to Mr. Mansur Yavaş. He has not made such a statement to his inner circle or to any other person. Mr. Yavaş's stance regarding candidacy discussions remains within the framework he previously set out in his public statements.
There has been no change since his assessments following the arrest of Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu. Mr. Mansur Yavaş's priority is to serve Ankara and to carry the trust placed in him by the people of Ankara in the best possible way."
