Ankara summit in CHP: Critical meeting from Mansur Yavaş

Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan has resigned from the CHP. Following leaked messages with CHP leader Özgür Özel, Özarslan, who had filed a criminal complaint against Özel, held a press conference at the municipality.

Following Özarslan's statements, it was learned that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş will meet with CHP Ankara deputies, mayors, and Party Assembly members this evening.

According to a report by Sözcü, at the dinner to be held at municipal facilities in Ankara, Yavaş is expected to convey claims regarding the background of Özarslan's resignation, the corruption debates that have come to the fore, and the pressures some mayors have faced to defect to the AKP. It was also learned that Yavaş will bring up the investigations conducted against these individuals during the meeting.

It was stated that Yavaş, who is also expected to discuss the investigations opened against him by the ruling wing, will share concrete examples of the audit and investigative pressures on municipalities. It was noted that the meeting, where he will also answer questions from participants, will serve as a comprehensive briefing.

Municipal officials, meanwhile, emphasized that it was a coincidence that Mesut Özarslan's resignation and this dinner fell on the same day. Officials stated that the meeting in question had been planned about 10 days in advance, but that the content took on a different dimension with the development of the resignation.
