Another application filed for the annulment of the constitutional referendum
Zafer Party lawyer Sevdagül Tunçer announced that she has filed an application with the Ankara 45th Civil Court of First Instance for the annulment of the constitutional amendment referendum held on April 16, 2017.
In a statement on her X account, Tunçer recalled the lawsuits filed against the CHP conventions.
Tunçer stated, "The real irregularity was committed in that referendum, which changed the fate of 86 million people and was never accepted by the conscience of society; this issue is not only a matter of law, but also a matter of national will and national honor."
Tunçer's X post is as follows:
"I am sharing with the esteemed public that I have filed the second lawsuit regarding the 2017 referendum today.
Since we have witnessed the adoption of a new legal path against Supreme Election Council (YSK) decisions through the lawsuits filed in Civil Courts of First Instance against the CHP conventions, I have taken the dirty referendum, in which unstamped ballots were counted as valid, to the judiciary at the Ankara 45th Civil Court of First Instance with the application I have been preparing for some time.
The real irregularity was committed in that referendum, which changed the fate of 86 million people and was never accepted by the conscience of society; this issue is not only a matter of law, but also a matter of national will and national honor.
While I consider it a duty to uphold the national will, I also find it meaningful as a member of the opposition to leave a note in history against the government's 'enemy criminal law' practices as well as its 'enemy procedural law' practices."
The Innovation Party (Yenilik Partisi) had also announced that they had applied to the judiciary for the annulment of the April 16 constitutional referendum.
İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Hakan Şeref Olgun had stated that he was preparing to apply to the court regarding the 2017 constitutional amendment referendum, in which unstamped ballots were accepted, following the appointment of a trustee to the CHP Istanbul provincial branch.
