Another ban for Ekşi Sözlük! Access to mobile app blocked
Access to the Ekşi Sözlük mobile applications on the App Store and Google Play Store has also been blocked following the access ban on the website.
Ekşi Sözlük, which received an access ban on February 25 following the earthquakes on February 6, continued its operations using different domain names after this decision. The platform, which used various domain names, had its "eksisozluk2023" domain blocked on May 13, "eksisozluk42" on May 15, "eksisozluk1923" on December 14, and "eksisozluk1999" on December 24.
According to a report by NTV, Ekşi Sözlük has been blocked from access on the digital application stores for iOS and Android devices. Following this decision, Apple removed the Ekşi Sözlük application from its App Store. On Android devices, although the application can still be installed, it returns an error when attempting to log in.
Last month, an Ekşi Sözlük member wanted to expose a scandal on the platform after another member sent them images of child abuse via direct message. However, stating that Ekşi was trying to silence them, the member shared the stomach-churning incident on the social media platform X. Following this post, the incident spread rapidly on social media, causing widespread outrage. In response to the backlash, the Ministry of Family and Social Services took action, and an access ban was imposed on the Ekşi Sözlük website on December 24, 2023. However, the platform resumed its operations under the domain name eksisozluk111.
