Another contact between AKP and DEM: A dinner organized for the Yıldız and Şenyaşar families

Esvet Şenyaşar and his sons Adil and Celal Şenyaşar were killed by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP member Halil Yıldız, leading to increased tension between the two families. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, AKP's Bekir Bozdağ, and DEM Party's Ahmet Türk organized a 'peace dinner' to lower the tension between the two families.

The justice vigil held by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed by the relatives of then-AKP deputy Halil Yıldız, had ended following the release of her imprisoned son, Fadıl Şenyaşar.

Negotiations conducted through politicians to reconcile the two families had yielded results, and it was stated that the families would come together at a peace dinner to be held in Suruç today.

DEM Party MP Ferit Şenyaşar from the Şenyaşar family had stated that they wanted an honorable peace: “We extended a hand for an honorable peace. These days, there is talk of an unnamed process. I hope a process leading to an honorable peace begins. May this meeting pave the way for that.”

The fact that the dinner was held during a period when discussions about a 'solution process' are taking place drew attention.

Yılmaz invited Ferit Şenyaşar and İbrahim Halil Yıldız, representing the families, to the stage to shake hands.

Şenyaşar and Yıldız shook hands at the dinner. Yılmaz said, “Bekir Bozdağ, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Abdülhamit Gül, Ahmet Türk… These four names truly made a special effort; I thank them all in your presence.”

THE ŞENYAŞAR CASE

On June 14, 2018, in the Suruç district of Urfa, during a shopkeeper visit by AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız, a fight broke out in which the relatives and bodyguards of AKP member Yıldız killed Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar and his sons Celal Şenyaşar and Adil Şenyaşar. Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız's brother, Mehmet Şah Yıldız, was also killed during the events. While Fadıl Şenyaşar, who was seriously injured in the attack, was undergoing treatment, Enver Yıldız, the older brother of AKP Deputy Yıldız, went to the Urfa Courthouse 15 months later on September 18, 2019, with an army of 50 bodyguards and was arrested.
