Another mayor arrested!
Gelendost District Mayor Mustafa Özmen, who was detained as part of an investigation in Isparta, has been arrested by the court. Following the arrest decision, council member Hakan Yılmaz has been appointed as the acting mayor.
Gelendost District Mayor Mustafa Özmen, who was detained as part of an ongoing investigation in Isparta, has been arrested by the court and sent to prison.
According to ANKA, a total of 5 other people were detained along with Mayor Özmen as part of the investigation conducted by the Yalvaç Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
While no official statement has been made regarding the reason for Mayor Özmen's detention, Özmen was sent to prison after being referred to the Yalvaç Courthouse following the completion of his procedures at the police station.
In an announcement made via its social media account, the Gelendost Municipality stated that council member Hakan Yılmaz has been appointed as the acting mayor following the arrest decision.
Mustafa Özmen was elected as the Mayor of Gelendost from the İYİ Party in the 2024 local elections, but later resigned from his party and was continuing his duties as an independent.
