Another murder by Sinan Ateş hitman Eray Özyağcı revealed
It has been revealed that Eray Özyağcı, the hitman in the murder of Sinan Ateş, raided a cafe with his accomplice Ömer Veysel Altun on November 22, 2000, due to a dispute over drug sales, resulting in the death of Bilal Mükanoğlu, who had no connection to the incident. It was learned that Özyağcı's name has been involved in at least two other armed raids.
Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz has brought the unknown details of the first murder committed by Eray Özyağcı, the hitman who killed former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, to his column.
It was learned that on November 22, 2000, in the Esenyalı neighborhood of Istanbul's Pendik district, Özyağcı and his accomplice Ömer Veysel Altun raided the Pirana Cafe due to a dispute over drug sales and territorial control, opening fire on their childhood friends.
In the attack, Bilal Mükanoğlu, who had no connection to the incident, lost his life, while brothers Adem and Ömer Varol and Onurcan Ercan were left disabled.
Saymaz stated that Altun was later involved in a murder in Izmir as well, and said, "However, he sprayed the wrong shop and killed the wrong person, 73-year-old retired teacher Zihni Beyaz, and wounded two people!"
Saymaz explained that behind this murder was drug trafficker Aslan Alkan, who wanted to take revenge for Ramazan Karadağ, a Salafi community leader. He stated that while Alkan was targeting Engin Dündar, a follower of the İsmailağa sect who had shot Karadağ, he accidentally caused the death of Beyaz.
Emphasizing that these events are the story of an incredible murder that stretches from Istanbul to Izmir, from Turkey to Ecuador, and brings a Salafi community leader and a drug trafficker side by side, Saymaz touched upon the international escape of the suspects, saying, "Aslan is being held at a deportation center in Ecuador. As for Aygün, I hear he is in the Balkans..."
The relevant part of Saymaz's article is as follows:
"Yesterday in this column, I wrote about the first murder committed by Eray Özyağci, who killed Sinan Ateş.
The date of this little-known murder is November 22, 2000.
The place is the Pendik district of Istanbul.
Özyağci and his accomplice Ömer Veysel Altun raided the Pirana Cafe in the Esenyalı neighborhood where they lived, due to a dispute over drug sales and territorial control, and opened fire on their childhood friends.
In this small-scale attempted massacre, Bilal Mükanoğlu, who had nothing to do with the incident, died, while brothers Adem and Ömer Varol and Onurcan Ercan were left disabled.
The two accomplices could not be caught even though they lived as fugitives in Istanbul for two and a half years!
Özyağci fired 14 bullets at Ferhat Önen in those days.
He shot up a venue in Darıca for debt collection with Doğukan Çep.
And they killed Sinan Ateş.
So, what happened to Altun?
I am revealing it...
He also committed a murder in Izmir.
However, he sprayed the wrong shop and killed the wrong person, 73-year-old retired teacher Zihni Beyaz, and wounded two people!
This is the story of an incredible murder that stretches from Istanbul to Izmir, from Turkey to Ecuador; bringing a Salafi community leader and a drug trafficker side by side."
