Another YRP mayor resigns

News of resignations from the New Welfare Party continues to arrive. The latest resignation comes from İbrahim Ergün, the mayor of the Aydınlar township in the Adilcevaz district of Bitlis.

In a written statement regarding his resignation, Mayor Ergün included the following remarks:

"My esteemed fellow citizens; in the March 31 local elections, I was elected as mayor from the New Welfare Party with your favor and support to serve our Aydınlar township. In order to carry the sacred trust of you, our esteemed fellow citizens, and to focus on better services in our township, I have decided to resign from the New Welfare Party with the consensus of my colleagues. The decision we have made has been considered in every detail and supported by the views of our people. I would like to thank our fellow citizens who have supported us and shown great favor in this regard, and I wish that the decision we have taken will be beneficial for our Aydınlar township."

SUCCESSIVE RESIGNATIONS IN YRP

Previously, Ali Aydemir, the mayor of the Yıldız township in Sivas, had resigned from the YRP along with municipal council members. Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Kasım Gülpınar and Yalıhüyük Mayor Mehmet Ali Yılmaz in Konya also resigned from the YRP in the final months of 2024. Most recently, yesterday, Murat Daban, the New Welfare Party mayor of Selendi in Manisa, announced that he had resigned from his party.
