Anti-LGBT march promotional public service announcement added to RTÜK list without approval: CHP member Keser comments on the decision to 12 Punto
RTÜK President Şahin allowed the public service announcement for the anti-LGBT march to be published on RTÜK's official website, despite it not being approved during the meeting. CHP RTÜK member Tuncay Keser commented to 12punto.com.tr on whether this issue complies with the guidelines.
In its meeting last week, RTÜK discussed the issue of whether the promotional film for the anti-LGBT march to be held in Istanbul on September 15 should be shown on television channels as a 'public service announcement'.
The issue of broadcasting the public service announcement was left to today's meeting without being accepted as a result of the vote, but the decision regarding the public service announcement appeared on RTÜK's official website even though it was not accepted.
It drew attention that information regarding the public service announcement was published on RTÜK's official website, despite it being discussed at RTÜK and receiving a four-to-four vote regarding its broadcast.

As 12punto.com.tr, we asked CHP's RTÜK member Tuncay Keser whether this situation is in accordance with the law and guidelines. Keser, whose views we received on the subject, said the following:
"Because the RTÜK President has such authority, information regarding the public service announcement for the anti-LGBT march event to be organized by the Istanbul Family Foundation appeared on the RTÜK website. If you look at the page, you will see the phrase 'Recommendation period'.
The final decision will be clear at the meeting to be held today.
We have made our objection regarding the public service announcement in question.
The decision taken as a result of the meeting will be announced around 15:00 today. We will make our objection again, and the result will become clear according to the participants and the votes to be cast."
