YENİ Party Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the agenda at a public meeting held in front of the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality.
In his speech, Özel also touched upon the allegations raised within the scope of a fund investigation and brought up the name confusion that occurred in the statements of his party's İzmir Deputy, Ümit Özlale.
Stating that the allegation regarding the father of Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stemmed from a misidentification, Özel apologized to Minister Göktaş’s father for the confusion that occurred.
REACTION THROUGH THE EXAMPLE OF ÜMİT ÖZLALE
Expressing that he understands the discomfort experienced by Minister Göktaş’s father, Özel said that other families who encounter similar situations should be evaluated with the same sensitivity.
Arguing that his party's İzmir Deputy Ümit Özlale was also subjected to slander due to a name similarity, Özel stated that no apology was offered in that incident.
In his statement on the matter, Özel used the expression, "I apologize to my uncle, but there is hypocrisy here."
