Armed attack on parked vehicle in Kağıthane
A young driver lost his life after shots were fired at a parked car during an armed attack in Kağıthane this morning. The moments the attackers fled the scene were captured on a mobile phone camera.
A horrific incident occurred in Istanbul's Kağıthane district this morning. An armed attack was carried out with automatic weapons by two unidentified individuals against a parked car with license plate 34 HUB 246 on Fazilet Street in the Hamidiye neighborhood. 25-year-old Burak Tunçel, who was inside the vehicle targeted with approximately 40 bullets, was critically injured.
Upon notification by local residents, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. While initial intervention took place at the scene, Burak Tunçel was transported to the hospital by ambulance but could not be saved despite all medical efforts.
Crime scene investigation teams have launched a detailed study regarding the attack. A notable piece of evidence recovered from under the car used in the attack was also taken by police for examination.
The two individuals who carried out the attack were seen fleeing the area rapidly immediately after the incident. The moments of their escape were recorded by a citizen on a mobile phone. In the footage, it was observed that one of the attackers was wearing a ski mask.
Speaking about the incident, local resident Mikail Çakar stated, "I was in the shop, I heard the gunshots around 11:30. He was a kid around 25 years old. They shot the kid here with a gun. They fired more than 30 bullets, then they ran away."
Police teams have launched a comprehensive investigation to apprehend the attackers, and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
