Arms smuggling operation in 71 provinces

The “Mercek-16” operations, which have been ongoing for 4 days, were carried out in 71 provinces targeting individuals carrying unlicensed weapons and arms smugglers. 

As a result of the operations, a total of 912 weapons were seized, including 661 unlicensed pistols, 35 pistols converted from blank-firing guns, 40 long-barreled rifles, and 176 unlicensed hunting rifles. Legal action was taken against 959 suspects.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya stated the following on the matter via X:

"The “MERCEK-16” operations, which have been ongoing for 4 days, were carried out in 71 provinces targeting individuals carrying unlicensed weapons and arms smugglers! As a result of the operations: A total of 912 weapons were seized, including 661 Unlicensed Pistols, 35 Pistols Converted from Blank-firing Guns, 40 Long-barreled Rifles, and 176 Unlicensed Hunting Rifles. Legal action was taken against 959 Suspects."
