Arrest request for academic Çiğdem Bayraktar Ör
An arrest request has been issued for academic Çiğdem Bayraktar Ör, who was detained as part of an investigation launched on charges of "insulting the President" and "insulting a public official due to their duty."
The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation regarding Ör's social media post.
Acting within this scope, teams from the Security Branch Directorate detained the academic.
According to the report by Çağdaş Bayraktar from Cumhuriyet, the police procedures for Ör, who was detained by Security Branch Directorate teams as part of the investigation initiated by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, have been completed.
Taken to the Anatolian Courthouse, Ör was referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace with a request for her arrest on the charge of "insulting the President" after her statement was taken by the prosecutor's office.
